Statement of Faith

David’s Tent DC is an inter-denominational ministry committed to:
• the authority of the Word of God–The Holy Bible,
• the lordship of the Son of God–Jesus Christ,
• the work of the Spirit of God, and the mission of the church of God.

We agree that the Bible is our statement and standard for all belief, instruction, practice, and policy. We acknowledge the historical roots of Christianity that have shaped the theology and orthodoxy of our faith and use the Nicene and Apostles’ creeds as summaries of the gospel consistent with scripture.

We are committed to ministering to God in night-and-day worship, partnering and communing with God in prayer and intercession, and telling others about Jesus with the good news of the gospel.

We direct the affairs of our ministry in a manner concordant with scripture and have adopted specific core values that guide our vision and govern our policy.

Political Disclaimer: David’s Tent seeks to be a place of unity for every stream of the Body of Christ in all her beautiful diversity, echoing Jesus’ prayer in John 17. For that reason we ask that participants on the stage refrain from political opinions or divisive speech. We ask that all prayers be ones of blessing. David’s Tent does not hold a partisan position or endorse the speech or opinions of participants.
Our one message is the exaltation of Jesus. We desire above all things to bless His heart, and bring Him an offering He is worthy of. We seek to gather around Him, united in worship as we will be for all eternity around His throne.

Core Values

We do this because Jesus deserves it.

Jesus’ perfect obedience to his Father broke the power of death and every sin debases mankind. Fully God and fully man, he succeeded where each of us, since Adam, failed. The cleanness and freedom that every heart longs for is now within reach – in Jesus. We want to be a voice for our nation, shouting “thank you” to Jesus!

Loving Jesus is our only agenda.

We are neither protesting nor promoting any social or political agenda. We do not engage in preaching, political opinions, or extended intercession from the stage – only worship, thanksgiving, and adoration for Jesus.

We let our light shine.

We are so in love with Jesus that we just cannot resist introducing others to him. We don’t preach from the stage, but our staff and volunteers constantly watch for opportunities to personally share the good news of Jesus with those who come to the Tent. We ask for the Holy Spirit to show us those whose hearts are open to an invitation to know Jesus, to receive prayer, or simply to be touched by kindness.

The Tent is a celebration!

“The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous” (Psalm 118:15). Our songs are focused on thanking, adoring, and praising Jesus more than laying requests before him. We want to inspire a culture that values and delights in Jesus above all else.

Everyone’s song is valuable.

The worship leader’s role is not to perform, but to provoke a greater release of each persons’ unique expression of love to Jesus. The Church’s great love song will be lacking if any voice is silent.

We honor all but exalt only Jesus.

We invite the Church’s finest talent to lead us, but all titles, achievements, and accolades are left outside of the Tent. We gather around Jesus’ throne in equal humility, exalting only Him. We count it a privilege to become a nameless, faceless generation that makes famous the name of Jesus alone.

We embrace unity in diversity.

All ages, races, and musical styles are invited to lavish love on Jesus. Every church, ministry, and denomination can agree on at least one thing – that Jesus is worthy of our love. We long to see every expression of the Church of America represented at the Tent. The perfect unity Jesus prayed for in John 17:21 is our destiny.

We honor Jerusalem.

We are inspired by David’s expression of devotion in setting up a tent in his capital city for the ark of the Lord’s presence. But we are under no illusion that our nation or any other has taken the place of Israel in God’s plan for mankind. God calls himself “the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,” and we honor their descendants.

Did you know that the most successful governmental administration in the history of the world had, at its center, a tent where worship songs went up to God 24/7/365? It was David’s Tabernacle in Jerusalem 3000 years ago. This is the story of that tabernacle, and the testimony of how God Himself has brought back this type of public expression in the heart of Washington DC. David’s Tent is a book filled with invitation and hope for the nation and the world…
